Content Creators

I found today's class particularly interesting as I am a film student and we were talking about new media and entertainment. I wanted to share with you some of the things we have been talking about in my Producing for TV class.
It seems undeniable at this point that the web is the way television content is heading towards. With sites such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go and The CW Seed everything seems to be accessible online now. With the ridiculous advantage of being able to control your viewing according to your timetable and your preferences the question is why would anybody still have a regular cable package? Clearly the transition will still take a few years but It is fast approaching and large networks and programmers have to watch their backs.
It is exciting to know how easy it is to become a content creator and have your stuff seen by many people out there. We learned about a new website called Mobcaster where you can get your tv projects funded and distributed in the same place. Kind of like a Kickstarter where you can also watch the final projects.
I am very excited for the future of television as I'm sure the variety of available programming as well as the quality of shows will be drastically raised in the following years.
